About RGS Group

RGS Group is owned by the Gulamo family. Over the past 25 years they have grown RGS into one of Mozambique's largest conglomerates.

Their journey has seen them develop a deep understanding of the Mozambican market and expertise across various sectors. Adopting a holistic approach, the company has expanded into retail, distribution and logistics sectors as well as extraction, transformation and agriculture businesses.

RGS has consistently grown its portfolio through collaborating and partnering with suppliers and clients, establishing efficiencies and opportunities that benefit the entire group.

Our Journey

Early 1990's

Aquil Rajahussen of the Gulamo family initiates their business venture by importing goods from Dubai into Mozambique. Instant success prompts the family to acquire a building and convert it into their first store, the Armazéns Al-Owais.

Late 1990's

The Gulamo Family expands the business into new products, opens stores and warehouses, and diversifies into transport, logistics, agriculture, and manufacturing. They acquire a tea estate and a flour milling plant.

2000's

The group further diversifies its portfolio by investing in the transformation industry, focusing on the processing of edible oil, soaps, biscuits, candies, and packaging, establishing itself as a leading importer of consumer goods, which by now range from textiles to toys, and from food to electronics.

2010's

Investments are made in water, beverages, sugar, packaging and household items, and the company makes its first investment into the mining sector.

2020's

The group expands its Mozambican portfolio by acquiring a milling complex for maize and wheat, a sugar estate, and expands its oil refinery business. The new decade marks RGS's first steps into international markets as it opens an office in Angola, capitalizing on the group's past experience to develop investments and projects.
